Police responded to the crash on Scituate Avenue in Cranston shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday, June 19, Cranston Police said on Facebook

The crash involved two vans, one which was a healthcare van owned by Life Supply Corporation based in Ludlow, police said. The van was carrying compressed oxygen that had to be removed because it was leaking at the time of the crash and could have caused an explosion.

First responders also pulled two people out of the healthcare van with the driver, later identified as Garrison Gonzalez, of Leominster, being pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger and driver of the other van both sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

There was no evidence of driver impairment, police added. The investigation is ongoing.
